The kids had a 1 week school holiday and after much planning, we decided to go to Korea. We booked Malaysia Airlines MH66. The flight was planned to depart on 13 Sep at 11PM, but was rescheduled to 14 Sun 7PM. The delay resulted in us loosing half a day of our tour in Korea.

We landed in Incheon Airport around 2:30PM. We were greeted by our guide, Mr Jordan, who turns out to be a famous tourguide among Malaysian tourists visitng Korea.

Our ride to Busan

Our plan in Korea is to spend the first 2 days in Busan, with the remaining in Seoul. From Incheon Airport, Mr Jordan drove us to Busan.

Geumgang Rest Area

The drive to Busan took around 4 hours. Along the way, we had snacks at Geumgang Rest Area, a famous highway stop.

We arrived in Busan around 8:30PM. Jordan took us for dinner at a Korean restaurant serving specialised Busan dishes. The food was tasty.

After dinner, we checked in at Marysol Hotel . It was located near Haeundae beach. We put our bags and had a quick stroll at the boulevard.

The following day, early in the morning, I went out for a short walk with Sofia to have a look at the beach. We passed by many shops and cafes in the Haeundae area. It’s definitely a good location to stay in Busan.

The boulevard from the hotel to the beach

We had a quick breakfast at the hotel before starting our tour. The first stop of the day was Gamcheon Village.

Gamcheon Cultural Village

Gamcheon Village used to be a settlement after the Korean War which has now transformed into a scenic tourist hot spot.

There was a caricature shop that did an excellent sketch of us.

BIFF district

After that, we headed to BIFF district. BIFF stands for Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) which is what the district is known for. We explored the many shops and cafes before heading to Gukje Market.

Gukje Market is known for the local food stalls and also as a fabric market.

After Gukje Market, we went to see some modern art installation at Arte Museum. The art installation uses features such as lights, sounds and even elements (wind, water, heat). Much to my surprise, the art installation were unique and interesting. They featured cleaver use of elements such as wind and water to present the art.

For dinner, Jordan took us to The East in Busan, a well known seafood restaurant. It was a huge standalone restaurant, which is famous with cruise tourists.
