Today we visited Asakusa and Tokyo Station area.

After having breakfast at the hotel, we headed to Daimon station and took a direct train to Asakusa Station.

As we were exiting Asakusa Station, I could feel that it was a nice sunny day.

We started our visit from the Kaminarimon gate (the main gate into Asakusa area). There were huge crowds along Nakamise street leading to Senso-ji. I was beginning to think Sunday was a bad day to visit city attractions.

Nakamise street

We walked through Nakamise street avenue and stopped by the many shops along the way.

Halfway through Nakamise street, we exited to one of the alleys and found Kukurihime cafe.

Kukurihime Cafe

Kukurihime Cafe served coffee and really good desserts.

Hozomon Gate

After Kukurihime, we walked towards the Hozomon Gate and then towards the main Sensoji temple. This is my second time visiting the area. My first visit was in 2015 [link].

Gyumon Halal Ramen

From Sensoji, we walked further north and had lunch at Gyumon Halal Ramen. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get our table but it was worth it. The staff were really friendly and there was even a Malaysian student working there.

Tokyo Station

After lunch, we headed to Tokyo Station. They wanted to see the station and go to a nearby mall.

KITTE Marunouchi Mall

We had coffee at Tully’s at KITTE Marunouchi Mall, which was right next Tokyo Station. It was a fancy looking mall with tall glass ceiling.

Kirby Cafe Petit

We then took the kids to Character Street inside Tokyo Station. It’s a small alley within the station with various shops featuring anime and manga characters. It was really awesome. The kids were really excited to visit the Kirby shop.

And of course, there was a gashapon shop with all the cool figurines.

We had dinner at Tokyo Station before heading back to the hotel.
