In the morning, we had breakfast at the hotel before heading out.

Upside Down Museum

Our first visit for the day was the Upside Down Museum. Parking was a challenge but we managed to find a spot after a few rounds. The museum is intended for visitors to take photos and upload it on social media.

They have crew stationed at each section within the museum to assist with photo taking, which is very thoughtful of them. The kids definitely enjoyed the visit.

Mugshot Cafe

After the Upside Down Museum, we headed to Mugshot Cafe for coffee. The had a variety of pastries on display.

Nasi Kandar Ketapang

From Mugshot Cafe, we walked around the area for a bit, before heading to Tanjung Town Books. We had a quick visit and then went next door to Nasi Kandar Ketapang for lunch. The nasi kandar was great as always. We were lucky to arrive just before the large lunch crowd!

Tanjung Town Books

After the big meal at Ketapang, we headed back to Tanjung town Books. They sell a variety of interesting old books. Compared to the one at Chowrasta (visited yesterday), this shop is more organised and the books are of better quality. I was very intrigued by the old Malay literature text books that was taught in the 50s and 60s.

Late in the afternoon, we headed back to the hotel and the kids went swimming.

For dinner, we went to Queensbay Mall. Completed in 2006, it’s one of the nicer malls in Penang.

Saturday, 2 Sep 2023

Today is our last day in Penang. We had breakfast at hotel, packed our things, and checked out from Nordin Mews.

We had a few hours to spare so we decided to revisit central Georgetown again.

I took the kids to Lebuh Keng Kwee and had the famous Teow Chew chendul. I’ve been here previously and thought the girls would enjoy the experience there.

Union Street Pasembor

After a bit more sightseeing in the area, we headed to the famous Union Street pasembor. It’s a modest stall behind the large HSBC office in Penang. As we arrived at the stall, there was a queue developing. By the time we got our food, the queue was more than 20 people.

I thought the pasembor was just ok as I’ve had others in the island that were more tasty.

Our flight back to KL was at 5:20PM. We arrived in Subang Skypark roughly 1 hour later. We had a pleasant trip to Penang, and as always, we look forward to return back to the island as there’s always more to do.
