Breakfast at hotel

In the morning, we had breakfast at hotel. Surprisingly the breakfast was good.

Sam's Batik
Sam’s Batik

We started the day by visiting Sam’s batik. It is one of the well known batik stores in town. The location was good too as it was in central Georgetown and within walking distance to Lebuh Campbell.

Emily Darling Cafe

After spending some time at Sam’s batik, we walked across the street to Emily Darling cafe.

Location of Emily Darling and other shops

From Emily Darling cafe, we walked past Lebuh Campbell, passed by a few souvenir shops, and went to Chowrasta Market.

Old bookshop at Chowrasta Market

There were more souvenir shops inside Chowrasta Market, but we went further in as wanted to visit the old bookshop corner. There were around 8-10 bookshops selling old books. There was something for everyone. We spent some time going through the various book shops and picked up a few for the kids.

Bicycles for rent in Georgetown

As we walked back to the car, I saw bicycles for rent. I thought it was really cool of Penang to have this.

Char kuey teow at E&O

We were quite famish and was looking for a decent char kuey teow, and ended up at Eastern and Oriental Hotel. The char kuey teow was excellent!

We then headed back to the hotel to rest and the kids wanted to swim. I took the chance to relax by the pool and ordered some nice teatime.

Lebuh Carnavon

In the evening, we explored Lebuh Carnavon. It’s one of the famous food stall streets in Penang.

Halab on Chulia Street

We had dinner at Halab on Chulia Street. It is well known arabic restaurant chain with a big flagship store in Bukit Bintang, KL.

Food at Halab

The food was really good, as expected. There were many cool restaurants around Halab which I plan to try in my future visits to Penang.
